Take off Darryn |
They go down tiddly down down.
They enchant all the ladies and steal all the scenes
With their up tiddly up up
And their down tiddly down down.
Up, down, flying around,
Looping the loop and defying the ground.
They're all frightfully keen,
Those magnificent men in their flying machines.
(And with apologies to Banjo Patterson, I write the following)
Twas Lanky Darryn from Townsville
That caught the flying craze
He turned away the 4WD that served him many days.
He dressed himself in fancy helmet, resplendent to be seen
He hurried off to town and bought a shining new machine.
And as he coaxed it down the runway, with air of lordly pride,
Lynne rolled her eyes and shook her head and took it in her stride.
'See here, ye all,' said lanky Darryn, 'From Uluru to the sea,
From Cable Beach to Sydney town, there's none can fly like me.'
So... South East of the continent,
Near the most southerly mainland point,
You'll find hills and valleys all lush and green
That will never disappoint.
Travel down to Gippsland,
The south, to be precise,
Meander through Strezlecki Hills
Where beaches will entice.
And so it was that lanky Darryn found his way to Inverloch.
Up, up away into the clouds
Loop the loop around the clock.......weeeeeeee!

and fog in the Strezlecki Hills on the way to Korumburra
Van Gogh would have painted this |
While down that way
Cross the bridge
At the village of San Remo.
Step ashore on Philip Island
Where fairy penguins go.
Seals galore laze on rocks
As wild seas pound the shore
Koalas doze high in the gums
And Grand Prix motors roar.
Then head slight north back into the hills
Discover hidden treasures abound.
Wineries, cafes and antique shops
Where amazing surprises are found.
You may find the track that leads you direct
To the gate of Jim's hidden farm.
We visited one day and the cows said, "G'day"
Yes, South Gippsland is full of charm.
